How the advice works

Three stages from reviewing your needs to progressing your chosen option.

01

Review the current deal

Check the balance, rate, end date and any charge for changing the mortgage early.

02

Compare costs and features

Consider the rate, fees, incentives, term and practical work involved in each suitable option.

03

Arrange the chosen option

If you decide to proceed, begin the chosen option with your current deal end date in mind.

Frequently asked

Answers to common questions.

These answers are general. Advice and lender criteria depend on your individual circumstances.

How early should I review my mortgage?

The right timing depends on your deal, any early repayment charge and how long alternative applications may take. Starting several months before the end date can provide useful time to compare, but Rahul will plan around your actual mortgage.

Is a product transfer simpler than remortgaging?

It can involve fewer steps, but the available products are limited to your current lender. A remortgage may involve a full affordability assessment, valuation and legal work. The overall cost and suitability matter more than the number of steps.

Will remortgaging reduce my monthly payment?

There is no guarantee. The result depends on the rates available, fees, mortgage balance, term and your circumstances. Extending the term may reduce the monthly payment while increasing the total amount repaid.

Can I borrow more at the same time?

Potentially, subject to affordability, purpose, property value and lender criteria. Additional borrowing should be considered alongside the cost and term of the whole mortgage.
